ABOUT CHET
Hi…My name is Chet Thompson. As a teenager I studied with Randy Rhoads in 1979 for over a year; until the day he left for Ozzy.
Randy and I shared the same classical guitar teacher, Robert Vaught. During my lessons, Randy said I was his best student. He asked me how I improved so quickly. I told him that I also studied classical guitar. Randy asked me to introduce my teacher to him and he immediately began taking classical guitar lessons.
If you listen to many of Randy’s compositions and solos, you realize the fact that Randy’s ability to fuse his Classical guitar influence into heavy metal songs is part of his genius.
I will teach you these concepts I learned from Randy and my classical guitar teacher so you can learn melodic classical guitar phrasing, composition, soloing and create your own classical heavy metal style.
